I recently found this place by accident. I told my wife that I really wanted a good burger. She hadn't eaten here in years. She is a native Topekan. I recently moved here from Florida. So, she recommended us try this place.
She had the patty melt. Both were excellent. Friendly service and Great food. This will be a regular place for me now. The prices are even better especially for the quality and quantity of food.

Their parking lot is always full but DEFINITELY worth the time pulling in. This place is unassuming and has some of the best food and pies you can find and at truly the BEST prices you will find. Locally owned Mom and Pop place so you know your money is staying in Topeka. You order at the counter and get your own drinks, silverware etc. Food comes out quickly and when they aren't too busy, they will bring your food to your table. They have an ice cream counter and a great selection of cakes and pies by the slice. You can order ahead and buy whole pies also and you will once you taste their pies! Come here for comfort food, their daily specials can't be beat either! Our new favorite place for a quick meal!

Sure there's the glitzy hamburger place down the street with the shiny exterior and the awful TV ads. BUT, Cook's is the real deal. Great burgers, always!! The full parking lot at lunch should be your clue.
