Forbes Snack Bar at Forbes Golf Course

700 S.W. Capehart Rd., Topeka

After hitting a bucket of balls or finishing nine holes, the snack bar at Forbes Golf Course offers food to fill your belly. The fare isn’t fancy. Then again, sometimes a chili dog (a big seller) just hits the spot. The prices are cheep, too.
Grab a can of beer (or a six pack) before hitting the course with buddies. Or choose something more hydrating, like Gatorade.
Forbes also offers a party room for special events and tournaments. The course is open sunup to sundown, and the snack bar is open whenever the course is. (Updated 5.28.10)

Start out the day with breakfast favorites: eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, toast, pancakes, French toast, juice and coffee. Then check out the cheesy pizza. Probably the best thing, says proprietor Rex Haney, are Gage Bowl’s burgers. “Great burgers,” he says, “great chicken strips, the pizza is very good.” The restaurant seats about 50 people. You can call in advance to reserve lanes or space for a party. (Open bowling ends around 9 p.m. Mondays and Saturdays for league bowling.)(Updated 5.24.10)
