My husband and I make special trips to this part of town just to go to Dickey's. Been there several times and it's always great! The family meal deals are awesome, one served 6 of us and we even had some to take home.

wow :(

Normally I dont like to write reviews or opinions about places after only one (and the last time) visit.
Tried Dickeys since it was later in the day and figured it wouldnt
too busy. Walked in to order with two people(one who was already paying) ahead of me, so my plan was working.
Tried to place my order and in the middle a second employee came up and began pulling product from my order tray. The gentleman cutting the brisket looked like he was going to assault the other employee for his rudeness. My ordering gentleman begin cutting another chunk of brisket when he had to stop and make another tray of ribs for drive thru. He finished the second order and went back to mine, still with same gloves on. He begin to shred the brisket when the same young employee came up and AGAIN took product from the chopping table to make another sandwich the previous customer never received.
I moved down the line to complete my order and one employee asked for my sides.....in which he began dumping on the plate. The manager (?) said this was incorrect and scolded the young employee (yes same one as before) and sent him to do something else in the kitchen. Order time 17 minutes
The food was okay, but nothing to brag about the meat was juicy and not dry and no sauce. Went to select a sauce from the three they have (Original, sweet, spicy) and like the other reviewers stated, there was little to no difference in taste...EXCEPT the cloying hint of being burned due to little product in the heated sauce containers. Also asked for cups to put the sauce in and was told "The cups are over by the sauces" ....stupid me I asked the young employee who must have escaped from the kitchen :( I informed him there was no cups so he gave me a side item container and walked off. Frustrated I got the lady managers(?) attention and she assured me she would get some cups out to the table. Waiting I made 2 more trips to get ketchup for my son with no attempt made to bring out cups.
In the end left dickeys with an none to pleasant experience, for overly priced food and semi competent service, and a new plastic cup reminding me of my ordeal. As I walked out after 20 minutes another patron was heard "Do you have any cups for your burned sauce?".........I laughed good luck my friend.....good luck.

No I will never be returning to Dickeys, there are too many other BBQ establishments who actually cater to their customers.

Great Ribs

I used to have to go to Lawrence for Buffalo Bob's BBQ.
On the 9th of September 2011 I bought two full racks of ribs from Dickey's and my Father-in-law and I ate the whole thing. They were the best ribs I have eaten in 30 years. I will never return to Lawrence for ribs when I have something this good in Topeka.

what garbage?

I love this place! The pulled pork, ribs, spicy sausage, etc etc, the service. The backed beans, the potato salad.
Good, spicy, sauce and all the goodies without having to pay a tip and free ICE CREAM. Go here, don't listen to other who like tasteless bbq, this place is the best!
The BEST! Put one on the westside and I would go everyday!

Wife and I look for reasons to go to Dickies! She absolutely LOVES the Chicken Baked Potato and I have not had a bad meal yet.

As for someones comment of the BBQ sauce on the side, it appears that person probably has never actually been to Dickie's. Dickie's has three large warming containers by the drink machines with sauce in them. There is little containers to put your sauce in or you can put it directly on your food. I have never seen the sauce put on the food directly, not even the ribs beyond what is necessary to cook it with the BBQ flavor.

Service is good and even though you have to order your food at the counter and wait for it to be prepared for you so YOU can take it to your table, there is employees waking around cleaning tables and asking if you need anything while you eat.

HATS OFF TO DICKIE'S, Great place to eat and feel comfortable with a down home atmosphere.

Very good

Just stopped by on my way home to get some grub. Ordered a Hot link sandwich, Waffle fries and a Unsweetened Iced tea..

The tea tasted like smoke...

Fries were straight cut and not cooked at all...

Sandwich was OK but sauce was not on the side as I asked..

What an EFFIN Joke never goin back............!!!!!

I went to Dickey's a few times back when they first openened and really liked the barbecue. Just too busy to get right in and out. I recently took my family there and remembered why I had liked it months ago. This brisket sandwich was outstanding and my kids really liked the smoked turkey. Good service also with not much of a crowd. We will be back soon.

Very poor excuse for Barbecue

Everyone at the wife's work was raving about this place. So we drove out to try it out. Between swatting the flies off the food, it was just mediocre BBQ. We both said we won't go back. Boss Hawgs is still the best.

Average at best

We ate again at Dickey's (third time) and still very satisfied with the meal. I had brisket and wife had the Hogie sandwich. Both meats were moist and very tender. Only complaint would be the $2.00 cups for beverages. I'm starting to get a collection of plastic cups which I don't need. I would like Dickey's to go to bringing in the cup for a discount or have a select of sizes. It seems to me to be a waste of their money on handing out those cups. Other than that another enjoyable experience at Dickey's.
