Famous Dave's is all about casual, finger-licking good barbecue, featuring hickory-smoked St. Louis-style spare ribs, Texas beef brisket, Georgia chopped pork, roasted chicken, sandwiches and burgers -- all of which can be enjoyed with Famous Dave's signature barbecue sauces. This Famous Dave's location opened in October 2009 in what was once a Ruby Tuesday that underwent a big remodel.

We went during their opening week, while the trainers and managers were all there. Naturally, the service was wonderful, attentive staff, and the food was great.

We went back last week, and it was the exact opposite. The hostess seemed irritated at having to seat us, the service was painfully slow (20 minutes for refills). Food was obviously old, as it was dried out and partially cold. Desert brownie was stale.

I'll try it again, maybe it was just a bad night.

KC and Manhattan locations have this beat.

I thought that their barbecue was decent for a chain restaurant - better than Grovers, not as good as Arthur Bryan's. The fryer cook needs to be better trained, as the onion strings were undercooked, limp and greasy. The beans were undercooked. Excellent selection of blues on the sound system. Give the place a try.

Bad Food. High Prices.

We had eaten at the Famous Dave's in Kansas City in the past and weren't impressed. But we decided to give this one a chance because we thought it might be better. It wasn't...it was actually worse if that's possible. And VERY expensive. We felt ripped off.
