Freddy's Frozen Custard prides itself on recreating old-fashioned favorites, using hard work and integrity as the main ingredients in every meal. Enjoy favorites like a Chicago-style hotdog, a one-of-a-kind steakburger with thinly sliced fries or stop in for some freshly churned frozen custard reminiscent of the custard served along old Route 66. Freddy's follows a long line of steakburger joints, from Culver's to Steak & Shake to Braum's. Promblem is, none of what Freddy's does is better than any of the previously mentioned. The steakburgers are decent, and the shoestring fries aren't bad, but I can't really say that it would get me back across town for any of it. The real winner are the pickles (of all things) and the custard. If you are a fan of Sheridan's or Culver's, you should feel at home here. The custard is great, and the offerings in the desert category make this place a great stop for an after-meal treat. Just be sure to grab your main meal elsewhere.

Wife and I have enjoyed the burgers, hot dogs, and desserts here several times. If you like Chicago style hot dogs, check this place out. Much better than Sheridan's and much better than Vista which used to be in the same location. Topeka needs more places, like this one, with good hot dogs.
No service

We're sorry we did not get to sample Freddy's food, but when we walked in, there were two young ladies making sodas, and we were not even acknowledged as being there -- no eye contact -- no "I'll be with you in a minute", etc. After waiting over 5 minutes, which seemed like an eternity just standing there, we left. If Freddy's wants to do well, the manager or owner needs to be there seeing that orders are taken and that customers are made to feel welcome.
