Magnificent pot roast melted in my mouth! Carrot cake was a heavenly sugar rush! The mashed potatoes were much too wet, as was the brown gravy, and the white gravy. A year ago the quality of the cooking was better. Hopefully we just hit on a bad Thursday.

Bad Buffet!

Clearly people are biased and choose to ignore the obvious. Hatred, lack of common sense, who knows.

The reason why they get Best of Topeka is two-fold. Food and Value. The steak melts in your mouth. The selection of food is incredible, all of which taste great.

Also, Golden Corral is one of the very few business that give back to Soldiers. A company that supports men and women of our armed forces.

Golden Corral is simply one of the best places you can eat in Topeka or elsewhere.

They no longer serve Rolls to the tables. I asked the manager and he politely explained it was one of the ways they keep prices from raising. If you want rolls, simply grab them as you fix your plate.

The food is great and the service is wonderful. They make friends of you and really care.

The service is awful. You have to run down a waitress to get a drink refill, a new plate or dinner rolls. This place is filthy every time we are forced to go here. (in a group) Check out the Health dept website for the numerous problems they have had. I have seen cockroaches and MICE scurrying along the floors, under the food counters. Skip the horror and the disappointment and go to Coyote Canyon. The food is better, your drink is FREE, the plates are available in STACKS and you get your own rolls when you want one.

The reason Golden Coral and others get "Best of" are usually twofold.

The "Best of" is a newspaper contest, and newspaper readership is older, sometimes much older, than the average person commenting here.

The other reason is it's easier than you think to stack the vote in your favor in this contest.

And besides, it's not the Nobel Prize people are voting on here.

Best of Topeka????? Give me a break.

They have an excellent Pot Roast and the Fried Chicken is very good. That is about all I can say good about it.

Several of the things I find very irritating about the Golden Corral other than the food is that to get a plate you have to beg the server to give you one. And if you want another dinner roll you have to do the same. I don't know what is so special about having to hoard the plates. Do they think you won't eat as much if they ration the plates and dinner rolls?

The desserts are terrible and the ice cream.....well I don't know what in the world it is made of. I probably don't want to know.

Ok - so why exactly does this place get "Best of Topeka"?
