I have been eating at Henry T's for a couple years now and I have never had a problem. The wait staff is always friendly, even when they are busy and the food is always good. I have ordered their quesadilla, taco salad, steaks, various appetizers and the turkey burger. Everything is always tasty, and recently I tried their All-You-Can-Eat Fish and was impressed. The beer battered fish was my favorite. They also offer Cajun-grilled, because the batter was crispy and tangy and not overly greasy. They let you decide between the two styles of fish for your refills, but I got the beer-battered every time because it was so good. The price was right, too at $8. I think they offer this deal every Friday.
I am always immediately greeted when I enter and have never had a problem being seated quickly.
I am noticing that this place hasn't been reviewed since 2012 so I think it's safe to say some of the previous reviews don't apply. I have never had any problem with waiting for drinks or orders and would recommend this place to my friends and family and anyone else looking for a nice place to hang out, watch a game and order a beer and some food.

Went to Henry T's on 11-20-12 with mom and two adults sons. When we walked in there was nobody at the hostess stand. We stood there for several minutes even waiting to be acknowledged. When ushered to table, hands on chairs, not sitting yet, we were asked, "What do you want to drink, we have pepsi products?" The tone was indignant and as if we were an intrusion.

Let's just say the service did not get any better.

The food was just....yuck. One son ordered a grilled chicken breast sandwich. It was black with no flavor. Second son ordered chicken fried chicken, I cannot even describe what it looked like, two bites and he was done. The rest of us ordered chicken salad sandwich. Somebody in the kitchen got a little too excited with the salt. (A lot too excited.)

The wait staff is completely unprofessional. One of the servers walked out of the kitchen grazing on a chicken wing. Our server, left us sitting with menus for a good 10 minutes before taking orders. (No, they were not even remotely busy.) My son sat there with an empty drink for approximately 15 minutes before our server offered a refill.

Sorry Henry T's that we were an intrusion on your not busy lunch rush.

This place is TERRIBLE.

Any positve reviews about this restaurant have got to be from their own employees trying to make the place sound better than it is! My opinion...this place is awful, ESPECIALLY THE SERVICE. I "attempted" to have dinner with my family tonight at this sorry excuse of a restaurant and instead I had to deal with the worst wait staff ever. We had a large group so I understand it's a lot a work to keep things running smoothly and in a timely manner, but the staff didn't even TRY to satisfy any of our needs. None of us were satisfied with our food, and if you tried to exchange it for something else, you were asking for an argument with the waitress AND the manager. I asked to have my food sent back because it was nowhere near what the menu's description said it was, and they STILL wanted to charge me for it! The waitress said I had to pay for it whether I wanted it or not...really??? And not only was the food and service terrible, the place was so freezing I couldn't sit still. There's no reason to still have the A.C. AND the ceiling fans on at the same time in the middle of OCTOBER!!!

Out of Bacon????

I can see running out of certain non essentials. However if you've got 7 sandwiches that come with bacon, you don't run out of bacon. At every restaurant I ever worked at, if you did run out, you sent someone to the store to get some. If you don't have bacon it's pretty bad to charge the same for a bacon cheeseburger, without the bacon...... And no piling super salty imitation bacon bits on it, is not the same as a bacon cheeseburger.

Good Food, But Don't Expect 5-Star Service

I've been to Henry T's several times. The set up is very open and there is loads of space between tables making it seem a little bare.

The first time I ate at Henry T's I had a 1/2lb Kobe beef burger that was AMAZING. It was deliciously medium rare, juicy, flavorful, topped in crisp bacon and melty cheese and sitting in between wonderfully butter-toasted buns.

Sadly, I've found that this isn't consistant. Be sure to check that your burger is cooked-to-order, I've had a couple that have been WAY overdone.

Service is always friendly, but aloof. The last time we visited we got to hear a 10 minute argument between the manager and a staff member who thought they were out of earshot and apparently forgot that there is a partial wall that hides the serving area from the dining room, but does nothing to muffles spirited discussions.

Point is the food is decent but don't expect 5 star service.

We got ignored by our waiter. We needed a knife and could not get our waiter's attention since he was too busy chatting up the girls at another table so I asked a waitress for help. The steak was not medium, it was cold. There is no way we will return there.

Wife and I went there about 3:00PM Sunday. Found all TV's on the same sports channel and volume was up so you could hear it (many places mute the volume but don't put on closed captioning)! Server was kind enough to write down the specials for us and we chose the $5 taco salad. With he exception of the meat not being drained quite as much as we would have liked, the meal was very good! Our server was very attentive and we found the overall atmosphere comfortable. Our youngest son appreciates a good sports bar and we will definitely take him to Henry T's when he's back in town. I give it 4 stars for food and 5 for the rest. Many thanks for a very nice afternoon meal!

Good to see they have done something about the wait staff. The last time I went the service was lousy. I had to find the waitress to wait on us. She took our order and basically just left us. Then we had to find her again for refills and to ask for the check. She was very rude and acted like we were wasting her time. I encouraged my friend not to leave a tip because the service was so lousy.

I remember coming to Henry T's the first time, not being able to decide what to eat, and even to this day, I still can barely choose! This restraunt is absolutely fantastic! Their queso is the best I've had in a while, and their buffalo chicken bites are splendid, especially coated in some nice tasty ranch or blue cheese. Five stars definately.

Keep the grill open!

We went back yesterday to give them another try. Mostly because it is non-smoking and we need more of that in Topeka off-Wanamaker. The first thing we noticed was the warm air when we entered. I even took my coat off. Our waiter was just as nice as could be. Our food came out quickly, it was hot and it was good. Our beer was in a frosty mug and tasted great. A football game was on. The sound was up so you could hear the game, yet we could still hold a conversation. I hope they keep up the good work and I hope that Topekans will support a local business that offers good food in a pleasant non-smoking atmosphere.

It's a shame when the service drags down a locally owned restaurant. Over the past year, I've been patronizing many local restaurants and trying to stay away from the chain joints out on Wanamaker. I was a huge fan of Henry T's when I lived in Lawrence, although the smoke in the place was horrible (it's now non-smoking). I was very excited to see one open up locally.

I'll concur with the other posts that the service is poor to downright miserable. While my experience wasn't quite as bad as others, it did take me nearly an hour to get in and out when there was only 4 or 5 occupied tables it the whole place. I had to get up from the table to get a refill and again to get my ticket. I was so PO'd that I left no tip for the first time in my life.

On a recent Sunday visit, I was at one of only 2 occupied tables. The volume on the TV was so LOUD that we couldn't even hold a conversation. Finally on my second request to turn down the volume, the waitress replied that she didn't want to because "the game was coming on." That's fine, but since the other occupied table wasn't watching the game either, you would think they would be able to accommodate us without much of a fuss. She did finally turn it down, only to turn it back up about 10 minutes later. We left a tip, but it wasn't much.

The food, when you get it, usually is very good. The menu has a wide variety of choices, from mexican to american to fish, chicken and burgers. The waffle cut fries are my family's favorite.

I'm torn... I want to support a local restaurant and I do like the food, but there's only so many times that a person can put up with crummy service. Here's hoping the management gets their butt in gear soon and makes some positive changes.

As someone who has worked in the service industry for several years I have a pretty good idea of what it takes to run a successful establishment. I've been to Henry T's three times and while the food is enjoyable and the menu is extensive, the service and management are AWFUL! The waitresses do not introduce themselves, they do not smile, and they act like serving you is doing you a favor! Not only are the waitresses awful, the general manager is the most unprofessional person in the service industry I've ever come across. To set the scenario, the restaurant was so cold inside we couldn't remove our jackets and there were literally two tables of customers, including us, in the entire restaurant and the waitress was still awful. Our chips and queso (1 minute prep) took 20 minutes, two of my friends waited 10 minutes for their drinks, and we literally had to flag her down when we were ready to order. This girl had two tables. She was not busy. When we asked for the manager to come to our table b/c we were unhappy with the service we were receiving she approached the table very defensively and proceeded to get into a verbal battle with a girl at our table and called her a b**ch! As if that wasn't enough, after the young lady was attacked and asked to leave, the manager proceeded to cause several more arguments at our table each and every time she came back. When everyone else at the table were served their lukewarm meals after 45 minutes of waiting and I was not served my meal I asked her about it. She looked at me blankly and snottily asked if I had ordered the same time as everyone else. I had been there with everyone the entire time. Come to find out, my order was the only one not entered out of the entire table. What baffled me was that my order literally took 2 minutes to reach the table and we had all waited 45 minutes for the rest of the table's food. As soon as it came I asked for a to-go box I was so disgusted with her behavior to which she replied "of course you do". I seriously thought we were being "punk'd". I've never seen or heard anything like it. And after it was all said and done, while mocking us and calling us "crazy" she presented everyone with their tabs. Not one of us was able to even finish our meals b/c we were so disgusted with the way we had been treated. Come to find out, the manager is in relation to the owner so she will still have her job after treating customers this way and it's doubtful she'll even be punished for her actions. At at time when people can rarely afford to go out to eat, when they do go they should be treated respectfully and have an enjoyable time. There is no excuse for what we experienced. To put it plainly, I highly discourage anyone from going there.

We come here often. We ALMOST always get a great meal. It is just a pleasure to relax and enjoy a meal without the smoke. For some reason it is always cold inside. Be sure to bring a jacket. I'm not thrilled with their hamburgers or the beef tacos. I think it's just cheap meat. I don't know, but I just stay away from them. Everything else I've tried is great. Especially the buffalo chicken salad.
