FEEDBACK

Grandma Moses - Really?

As the owner of HOT JAVA, I wanted to reply directly to the below comments of Grandma Moses... sic.

Grandma wrote, "I wasen't impressed at all. Seems like anyone can open a "coffee shop" these days. Service was slow and coffee was nothing special. Your store seemed dirty and small. Not a good location for this place, not really sure it has a place in my community."

Dear Grandma,

* You are correct, anyone with $50,000.00 can indeed own their own coffee shop, it's called "free enterprise".
* Service is slow because HOT JAVA makes everything to order, if you want fast service, Starbucks is for you
* HOT JAVA just this month went thru our first annual health department review with perfect scores.
* Our roaster is 'The Roasterie' a highly respected roasting company based in Kansas City
* Small, yes, HOT JAVA is small... Guess you got one right!

Please share with us your REAL name, how many jobs you have created for fellow Topekan's and how much of your hard earned capital you have invested in "our community". My guess is you won't, because you have every reason to hide and nothing to show for yourself!

P.S. thought you died in 1961 Grandma!

We really like this coffee shop, it isn't really close to where we live, but we usually make a special trip down south on Gage just to get coffee! It really is that good, and the workers are all really cool.

Hey Javaheads!

The Chinese Loose Leaf Tea Tasting went great this past Sunday! If you couldn't make it, please come in and our barrista's will set you up. It's $3.50 per session and you'll have enough tea to share with a friend, so come and stay for a while...

Thank you for the comments.

Quality is what you pay for, so..
* We hired the best Barista's in T-Town
* We gave them the best beans from the Roasterie in KC, &
* We invested in top-of-the-line machines..like La Marzocco

It isn't the cheapest way to do it, but then again, we know the quality comes thru in every cup of HOT JAVA coffee. We are so glad to hear true JAVA heads get what's up in the cup!!

The late opening was due to an illness & we WILL have an appreciation program in place soon!

I am SO pleased to have a QUALITY coffeehouse at a reasonable price so conveniently located by my office. My highest compliment to you is that I can always count on consistent quality. I've worked in a coffee shop, and I know this is hard to do.

I do have to say, it would be nice if you offered a punch card as a "thank you" to your customers, but it's probably not going to stop me from coming. (Your prices and quality are reason enough.)

I was a little turned off the other day when I hadn't eaten breakfast with the expectation of stopping by on my way to work, but you were closed! What was up with THAT?

By the way, you've got a valuable employee in Matt. He truly cares about his work and is great with your customers. Is he the manager?

Good luck to you all. Thanks for listening!

Honastoots,

Thanks for the suggestion!

We have been looking into this and agree we need to recognize our frequent Java-Heads with a rewards system whether it be a punch card, or frequent customer discount card.

If you haven't already, please fill out the information on the back of one of our business cards, available at the register, so we can add you to our customer mailing list. You'll get 10% off your next purchase when you hand this in at time of purchase.

More to come....

I live close by Hot Java and have been there a few times before work. The staff is great and the coffee & muffins are delicious! However, I would probably go there more if a punch card was offered. I usually go to another local coffee shop close by for that reason. Look into getting a punch card...every other local coffee shop in town has one! If you do that, you'll definitely keep my business!

Hot Java is right on my way to work - and the employees at Hot Java are super nice and accommodating. If I call them just when I'm leaving home - they have my coffee ready to go when I get there! Now that's great customer service!!

Plus they serve "The Roasterie" coffee -

Can it get any better .... I don't think so!!

I had heard that there was a new Coffee Shop over on Gage so my husband and I decided to visit your establishment. It was a little later in the evening and by the time we drove across town we arrived about 8:40 pm. When to our surprise the shop was closed. We thought maybe your shop closed at 8:30 pm but when we checked the hours posted on the front door your closing hour was listed as 9:00 pm for that day. needless to say we were disappointed that we drove from across town only to find you had closed early.

Great!

I came in last week and found the atmosphere very enjoyable!!! The employees were very nice and the panini I had was very tasty! I'm glad you guys opened this coffee shop! It offers a less intimidating feel than the national coffee chain or artsy joint. Thanks!!!

Hi Michelle-

I saw that you were running your free coffee day for those that donate items, and I work for a coffee Roaster based out of Seattle and was wondering if I could Dontate Coffee to you for all your efforts. I know it was today, but I was so impressed with what you and your business was doing, I wanted to at least offer!

Please feel free to respond to this post and I will contact one of your locations to get you my contact info, and thank you for your heart to help people!

Great job on the new homemade Turkey Chili. It was awesome! I see why HOT JAVA was packed today at lunch.

Usually I go for a Cuban Panini on sourdough, but now I have another contender... ahhhhhh, decisions decisions!

Thanks!

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for stopping by HOT JAVA! I am glad you are impressed with the coffee shop. Just let my staff know you would like 2% milk and they will make it the way you like it. I hope to see there soon. Take care and have a nice night!

Stopped by Hot Java last night and was impressed by the decor (the interior wall color palate is very cool) and was equally impressed by the mocha latte I ordered. Glad to see another easy to get to coffee shop pop up in Topeka.

Also, had a danish that was VERY good. I'll be back.

My only suggestion would be to add 2 percent milk to the choices even if that means half skim and half whole.

Hi,

Thanks for going to HOT JAVA and your positive feedback. As you probably know from my cups I am using The Roasterie coffee, which my opinion is the BEST! I do not roast my own beans. I hope you return and help yourself with free internet and big screen TV. By the way we are showing a X-MAS movie this Thursday pm come for the fun. Have a nice day, hopefully it will be as nice as they say.

Just when you thought there were enough coffee shops in Topeka... ok, are there EVER enough coffee shops? Nope! Here is the newest entry in the caffiene allficted world we live in. A great location, a funky atmosphere and tasty java. What more do you want.

Hey Michelle, are you roasting your own beans, or getting them somewhere local? Am kinda of a fan of PTs beans ... apparently so is Roast magazine.

Anyway, I've made two trips out to Hot Java in the past week and I will be back ... again and again and again. Keep up the good work.
