Lane's has been in Topeka for decades -- first as a grocery store, then as a restaurant and tavern. The atmosphere is casual, and the experience can be educational. The Lane family has done business at this location since 1924 and the restaurant's ties to the downtown area make Lane's a must-visit for any Topeka native or passerby. The interior was remodeled in early 2009. Inside, warm up by one of two fireplaces, play pool, jam to local bands or get cozy on one of Lane's couches. Ask about the state employee discount. The food C + and that is being liberal, however the atmospher is a window into the rich history of Topeka. I encourage everyone to at least try it, but be prepared to ask yourself, "did I really pay that much money for that quality of food?"

Family owned and operated, you get your dollars worth at Lane's. Some of the best fresh cut fries in town, they even have sweet potato fries. The decor puts the kitsch at Applebee's and Chili's to shame.
