Located in the North Commons shopping area on North Topeka Boulevard, Ling's Cafe specializes in Japanese and Chinese cuisine. Look for traditional Chinese dishes like chow mein, egg foo young and sweet and sour as well as Japanese favorites like teriyaki.

In 2012, Ling's expanded and renovated adding more seating, a Mongolian Grill and a Sushi Bar. In addition to an extensive menu, look for a lunch and dinner buffet.

Opened in March of 2011, Ling's is helping to fill the void of Asian restaurants in North Topeka and features dine-in as well as carry-out service. (1/13)

Yesterday, I was at home, when my boyfriend came home, announcing he was taking me to dinner. He insisted taking me to Ling's, which was more than fine with me. I had heard so much good about it, one friend even tempting me with the promise of Topeka's best rangoons being housed there. So we come in, and first thing that blows me away was how clean it was. Unfortunately, you don't see that too often with Asian buffets, but Ling's is a refreshing exception. When it came time to tour the buffet, I did my usual "buffet dance:" wandering around, inspecting every dish looking for what looked most delicious, but this time was quite a challenge, as everything looked perfect. I finally made my decisions and headed back to eat. At that moment, I was butter. The food was very flavorful and savory. Oh, if only I could have a black hole as a stomach so I could eat forever!!! Needless to say, my friend was right: Ling's is definitely home to the best rangoons in Topeka, as well as a host of other scrumptious selections. Definitely worth the cross-town trip for me. I will definitely be going back....as often as I can :)

Went today with my dad after he told me he didn't care for this place. I reassured him that it's better than the others. Today, ugh....proved me wrong. All the food was cold, including the food that was just brought out to the steam table.

I recently had lunch at Ling's with some friends, and we all loved it. There was a very large variety, the food was hot, and the service was good. We will definitely go back again.

Nice to have another Asian buffet choice close to downtown. Had eaten at Lings prior to their expansion, and it really is a completely new restaurant. Strong points: good selection of entrees and appetizers, and a personal favorite, jin deui (sesame balls with red bean paste), as well as a Mongolian grill option with meats & veggies to stir fry. Good selection of vegetables, and nice selection of small bites for dessert.
Weak points: Too much fried food, including entrees like black pepper chicken which typically are not made with battered fried chicken. American prepared Chinese food for whatever reason, needlessly involves too much frying and too little healthier cooking techniques such as stir-frying in minimal oil or steaming; wish they would adapt to healthier cooking techniques.
Comparable to Mr. Stir Fry & Hong Kong Buffet along the W corridor though without the drive from downtown during the work week, so I will return.

Just in the last month this place seems to have stopped serving beef on the hot buffet. Unless you want to eat BBQ ribs, that is. Our favorite items seem to have disappeared in the last 3 times we have eaten there, so I guess we will go elsewhere in Topeka for Asian dining.

Ling's was very pleasant dining experience for us. The employees were right on the ball with cleaning up after diners left and they kept the buffet counters replentished. The only downside was the ice cream and that was just because it wasn't my personal preference brand. Everyone else liked the ice cream. We have plans to return next week.

What a makeover!

This place went from a small little kind of hole-in-the-wall to a huge area with lots of buffet options, a sushi bar *and* a Mongolian grill. And it looks great! (Their page here needs to be completely redone too).

I'm sure they are going to have some rough spots during the transition, but I had a much more positive experience there today than the previous poster. I generally give a new place two or three tries before I give up.

The selection was pretty good on the buffet, about what you would expect, I think, for this kind of thing in Topeka, and definitely better than either the Golden Dragon downtown or the place out at Westridge (sorry, blanked on the name). They also do still have their lunch specials that are a good bargain, and I think still a sit-down evening menu as well.

No matter what time it is, they have a buffet open all the hours they are open, which are a very generous 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day of the week. This is important to me since we often want to eat at odd hours.

I had a great time exploring all the options, and we will *definitely* be back to do that some more.

Tried the place for the first time today. The variety of items offered on the lunch buffet is nice. However, the food doesn't live up to expectations.

Much of what I ate was cold or tepid during the height of the lunch rush. Not a single item I ate could be described as hot.

Items with batter, such as the General Tso's chicken were not at all crisp, rather they were mushy as pasty.

A nice variety of sushi, which wasn't bad, but nothing spectacular. A major disappointment that the tempura-battered rolls were cold. COLD, as if they had been refrigerated.

Service was typical for a buffet. Decor was fine, though a musty smell was present.

All in all, probably not someplace I'll return any time soon.

They are re-opening, finally!

I just saw a half-page ad in the paper today. I believe they have expanded their space, and they now have buffet service, both lunch and supper. Can't wait to go try it out, they seemed like very nice people when I met them before.

I'll let you know how it seems to me.

Are they ever going to open again?

It's May...I'm wondering, did they close permanently? We were by there today and they were still closed.

I'm missing them! They have good tasting food at fair prices. Hope to be able to go there again soon.

Love Lings! I drive from about 15 min away to get some. but just an FYI, they're closed for remodeling from mid-January through March 2012 (but they don't say when in March they're re-opening on the sign on the door). Just letting people know

I had the crab rangoon the other day and couldn't wait to eat some before I got home. They don't skimp on the filling. It was a hot and gooey delight. I also had the sweet and sour chicken for an entree. Also very good. Highly recommended.

We were pleasantly surprised to find that it was a full service restaurant.

I enjoyed my General Tzo's chicken and my friend said that her lo mein was good.

Great lunch prices, too.

Ling's Cafe is a North Topeka gem. I don't live in North Topeka, but it's worth the short drive over the bridge. My favorite dish is the jalapeno chicken. It's not too hot and it is one of the best Chinese dishes I have had in Topeka. The staff is also super friendly.
