No Sour Grapes Here!!

Silly Gosling....Why would I have sour grapes?

I just think people should be aware that what they are paying for is not fresh, it is not a quality product.

It is shipped in mass quantities, cry-o-vac bags of mass prepared product that the establishment either nukes or steams. Mmmmmm.....yukkkk!!

I am not starving, if I want delicious food I stay home and we create at home. If I want a break from reality, there are some fine establishments in Topeka that I visit for fresh, prepared in house and quality meals for a fantastic dining experience.

Have a blessed day Topekaguy!!

sounds like some sour grapes to me happygolucky.

Prime rib in particular is not something bagged and reheated. I've been to many restaurants (local and chain) and been informed a menu selection is not available. I don't view that as poor service or mismanagement unless it is a staple item or a repeat issue with the same item. Restaurants only prep a set amount of items such as these as they are not servable the next day.

Bottom line, we've consistently had good food and good service at Longhorn's.

By the way, if you don't want to eat anything bagged or canned, you must be starving....nearly all restaurants use prepackaged food to some extent, even high end places.

I have to disagree.

Running out of boxed, bagged and canned product is not good customer service. Having the product on hand is good customer service.

For some establishments comping is the norm. It is easier to comp than have fresh, quality product on hand. I can go to my kitchen and nuke food, just like Darden Restaurants do.

Yes, I know they lose money when they comp. Yes, I know that Long Horn has been under the Darden umbrella for a number of years now. My husband was part of the team that opened Long Horn, then they sold out and quality went too.

If you enjoy having to settle for a different item when you go there because they are out of what you originally ordered, that is great. Having to constantly comp because of lack of prepping and preparing is not good customer service.

Longhorn has been owned by Dardon for 6 years, so it's nothing new.

I find Longhorn fairly consistent and decent for chain dining. I must say the management has gone above and beyond in the several instances I've witnessed an issue.

We sat at the bar one night a couple of years ago, waiting for a table. The couple beside us was eating dinner. The manager came over and apologized since the apparently were out of ribs, which is what the wife wanted. He comped their dinner AND gave them a card to come back for ribs on the house the next time as well. I've never seen such a thing.

One evening I ordered prime rib, and the waiter came back about 10 minutes later to apologize as they had run out. I chose a different steak, and when the bill came it was comped.

Long Horn used to be a great place to go, handcut steaks, fresh salad that was made fresh, from scratch every 4 hours. That was before they sold out.

Sadly, Long Horn is now under the Darden umbrella and owned by the same corporation as Red Lobster & Olive Garden.

It is now part of the boxed, bagged and canned corporate food chains.

used to be my favorite place for a steak

So I used to love longhorn....I had good service and good food. seems like each time I go back the service has done down hill. This last time was the final straw. Many people waiting and 1/3 to 1/2 of the tables were empty. Manager was wandering around but not helping the wait staff to make service better. Waitress was very disorganized. Got bread right away but had no plates or drinks. We were complaining among ourselves and the waitress kept commenting on it rather than just getting our drinks and plates. Then she tells manager that we are cussing at her...I think we said Damn once...and that was after we had asked for the water and plates twice. I said...can you just bring us the damn drinks after she commented about something we said to each other for the third time.
So after the we were scolded for cussing at the waitress we just left.

Never going back

My husband and I went here over the weekend. It is a very nice, clean place with a fun feel to it. Our server was very attentive. The food is good. My husband had the new campfire burger and said it was probably the best burger he has ever had. The only thing I have had here that I haven't been impressed with is the salmon; I think I can make that just as good at home. The bread before the meal is delicious, the lobster crab dip is awesome. We also had the caramel apple goldrush, and it was soooo good! Be warned--it's easily big enough for 3 people!

Servers are always GREAT! Food has never disappointed. If you want cheap, go somewhere else. If you want GREAT, come here. Not over-priced. Worth the money for their great food. Service is over-the-top and never hovering. 1 of the 3 top steak places in Topeka and the only one on Wanamaker is Longhorn.

We are happy Topeka has a Longhorn Steakhouse. It is an excellent place to eat. We raise beef cattle and think Longhorn offers the best steaks in Topeka. The staff go out of their way to may you feel at home and are quite attentive without being overbearing. The salads, sides, and desserts are also excellent. Keep up the great job, Longhorn!!

This is a place where you feel like the management is very committed to making you happy. If anything is not right with your order it is corrected right away, no questions asked.
The Topeka location is top-notch. We have eaten both lunch and dinner there and, wow! Try the renegade. It is a great tasting piece of meat for a lower price.
