If you're a fan of delicious Mexican food and cheap margaritas, and who isn't really? Then Los Charros is the place for you.

Marco Smith, part-owner of El Charro, had always wanted to open a second location in Topeka. He and his wife Savanna realized that dream with the opening of Los Charros in August 2010. The restaurant is nestled in the corner of the Gage Center shopping complex and is easily accessible from Gage Drive and Huntoon Street.

Signature dishes include fajitas and Popeye's Chicken (made with spinach). Mouth-watering 99-cent margaritas are on special Monday - Thursday, as well as on Saturdays. A spacious dining room and eye-catching bar area are just icing on the cake.

My favorite place!

Los Charros is my favorite restaurant in Topeka. The wait staff are always very accommodating, and service is always fast. The real reason to visit though, is the food. I have eaten a lot of Mexican food in Topeka, and Los Charros is hands down the best. No canned re-fried beans here, people. They do it right. They also offer a wide selection of beers, and their .99 cent margaritas are not the watered down varieties you get at so many of the other places. On your next visit, try the pork and pineapple tacos. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about them.

Awful service for mediocre food.

If you want cold, run-of-the-mill slop rudely shoved at you 45-60 minutes after placing your order, this is your place. There are far more (and much better) Mexican restaurants to choose from in Topeka.

Great food and service

We eat her about 3 times a month. Food is always fantastic, and the staff treats our son like one of their own. Extremely friendly and accomodating, from transferring his food to a cold plate before bringing it to the table, to playing with him, they always make us feel at home. The food has so much more flavor than the other mexican places in town. My favorite are the mexican style tacos.

TERRIBLE SERVICE; SOMETHING OUT OF A NIGHTMARE!

We arrive at 9:40PM Friday for dinner. Server asks: "Are you two here to eat or somethin'?" They were busy setting up for a dance event. We offered to go some place else so as to not inconvenience the staff. He feigned hospitality and begrudgingly let us sit. As listed, the kitchen stays open until 10:30PM, but God forbid you should arrive when they are preparing for a party.

No sooner than we sit down do they start mic checks, and the band commences blaring a song at a deafening volume. I couldn't hear my friend 2' across from me. The four folks behind us left, it was so loud. They dropped off the check and my friend was finishing their drink. Then they started blaring techno, intermittently cranking the volume. A group of about 8 workers stood across the room, staring at us to see if we were affected by this annoyance. By this time it was about 10PM. They flat out shut off the lights on us and turned on the disco lights. They quite literally left us in the dark. I'd have been less offended had our server come up and asked us to leave. We promptly paid and left.

From the start, we would have been just fine had they said "we really can't accommodate guests while we're preparing for our dance night". We even offered to go elsewhere. Don't invite people in to neglect and run them off. I HAVE NEVER FELT MORE UNWELCOME IN A PLACE OF BUSINESS IN MY LIFE.

I never want to stop eating.

My family and I used to eat at Las Fuentes regularly until El Charro popped up on Fairlawn. We love it. Los Charros popped up sometime after that on Gage and we literally eat at either El Charro or Los Charros two to three times a week because it is pretty cheap and the food is amazing. The part that I like the most is after working in food service for three years I enjoy how friendly the waiters are and the fact that the owner is constantly on the floor. If you are lucky he just might serve you. If you have not tried this place - please do!

Best Mexican in town!

Man! We have only been to Los Charros once but their food is really, really good (and cheap too!). The grownups had $.99 margaritas (this was on a Saturday) and they were strong and very flavorful :) My pre-teen son had a steak burrito for around $8 and it was HUGE! He is a big eater and made 2 meals of it. I had the chicken taco salad. It was 1/2 full of stredded chicken and was one of the best taco salads I have ever had (and I have had lots!) I was actually sitting here thinking about the taco salad when I decided to look them up and leave a review :)

Yummy

Not only is the food excellent, Marco and the boys treat you like a member of the family(except you don't have to do the dishes), What a great experience compared to the chain restaurants around town where your just another check....

Looking forward to a new place!

If Los Charros is half as good as her sister place, then we have something fantastic on the horizon. My wife and I look forward to trying the food!

Oh boy...
