I remember coming here twice a month or more with my family when I was little. Last year, I went with my boyfriend for a tasty, yet affordable Prom-Night dinner, and as always, wasn't dissapointed. The food is delicious, the service is great, and the atmosphere is very laid back. I don't care what anyone says, McFarland's is one of Topeka's finest.
Not really a fan

I have been here a couple times, and it really seems like they charge a high price for what you get.
I have not had a side there that I didn't like, but the entrees left something to be desired. Someone raved about the roast beef, so I ordered it. Seemed to be 2 wafer thin slices of roast beef that were so uniform, I would guess they pull them out of a package and heat them up.
Like I said before, the sides I have no issue with, but both times I have eaten there, I ended up having a snack afterwards because the entrée is non-substantial.
Another wonderful dinnner!

We ate here this evening and Walt and company outdid themselves as usual! They are the best place for lunch or dinner in Topeka.

Their side salad is the best I've ever had. None of the rest of our food ever came, but that salad was AWESOME and I love the color Beige. We did get to see two people with bow ties, too. I can't wait to get back and try the tapioca pudding!!!!

I have never had a bad experience in this small family-run restaurant. The place is always clean. The food is served promptly & appropriately hold/cold---for a reasonable price. There are entrees for the health-conscious. The (young) wait staff DON'T HAVE AN ATTITUDE & are ALWAYS polite, helpful, clean!!!! Walt (the owner) comes around to each table of patrons to say "hello" & see if everything is "OK". The patrons are of the "older generation" for the most part, but, that can be a very nice experience in & of itself. Quiet, respectful patrons who know how to act appropriately in public. No wonder McFarland's has stayed open all these years. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!
Great place for all ages

Started going here while in Kiwanis. We met in the basement for several years, and basically I took this place for granted. But in recent years, we have enjoyed coming back and ordering off the menu. Walt and his employees are the greatest. Always good food at this place. Long live McFarland's !
Great place for everyone

McFarland's Restaurant has long been a favorite in Topeka. It is locally owned, and Walt McFarland is why this restaurant is so well-run. He is always there to greet you and make you feel welcome. McFarland's has a diverse menu, excellent prices, delicious food, and dessert comes with your meal. It is a nice, quiet atmosphere where everyone can have good conversations over a delicious meal.

McFarland's Restaurant is an awesome family owned restaurant that provides excellent service and great food. Most people think of this as a place for seniors but younger people would enjoy the food and service just as much! Definitely make a trip to this restaurant!
Highly recommend it for dinner or lunch!

McFarland's is a wonderful place to have dinner with my husband. We love that dinner includes dessert! Also, the atmosphere is great (especially love that it is locally owned and NOT A FRANCHISE!) for carrying on a real dinner conversation and not shouting over loud music or crowds.

Many Topekans have been introduced to MacFarland's by their grandparents as it as long been a favorite of the senior citizen's crowd. Go once and you will become a repeat customer. MacFarland's is known for its well prepared, reasonably priced comfort food served by an efficient wait stafff, some of whom have been there for years. The owner, Walt Macfarland, is usually on the premises insuring that everything runs smoothly. Macfarland's is the best of the locally owned restaurants.
