Millennium Café at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library

Millennium Café opened in 2001 with the opening of the new Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, designed by internationally-known architect Michael Graves. The cafe offers library workers and visitors a quick, casual and usually quiet place to sit and enjoy a bite to eat or relax with a cup of coffee. It caters inside the library, and links from the library's Web site at www.tscpl.org will bring you more information about the cafe, including the week's menu. The menu includes some made-from-scratch soups, salads, sandwiches, quiche and seasonal features. The cafe opens at 8:15 a.m. weekdays. (Updated 7.26.10)

Pizza Hut Carry-Out

Pizza Hut began when two brothers, along with their mom and $600, opened a pizza parlor in 1958 at a busy intersection in Wichita, Kan. Now, Pizza Hut has a global reach and can boast of being the world's largest pizza restaurant company.

Its menu is packed with pizza as well as other meal options, including pasta and chicken wings.



Potwin Drug Store

124 N.W. Fillmore, Topeka

Drop into the past at the Potwin Drug Store where you can still order a cherry phosphate from the soda fountain. The drugstore that resided at S.W. 5th and Washburn for 75 years has been recreated in the city’s Old Prairie Town at Ward Meade Historic Site using original fixtures from the Potwin store, including the beautiful walnut cabinets and pharmacist’s counter. Starting April 1, 2009, the drug store is dropping its soup and sandwich menu and focusing on its drinks, ice cream and candy. Look for extended hours in June, July and August when the shop will stay open until 7 p.m.



PT's Coffee Roasting Co. Cafe

1635 S.W. Washburn Ave., Topeka

PT's Coffee Roasting Co. opened Flying Monkey Handcrafted Brews on Dec. 2, 2011. A cafe specializing in serving Direct Trade Coffee and Espresso, Flying Monkey is located in the College Hill District at 17th & Washburn next to Washburn University, Flying Monkey is a PT's Coffee Roasting Co. cafe that serves PT's signature coffee, fresh, local food and a selection of local and regional microbrews including beer from Topeka's Blind Tiger.

On July 19, 2012, Flying Monkey was rebranded as PT's Coffee Roasting Co.



Quinton's Bar & Deli

Schlotzsky's flagship sandwich is "The Original." It includes premium meats, cheeses and marinated olives on warmed sourdough bread. Skinny's Sports Bar & Grill

Skinny's Sports Bar and Grill -- where every day is game day. When Chiefs and KU fans gather to pull for their teams they don’t have to look hard for one of 30 TVs. Soho Espresso

Located inside Soho Interiors in the historic Westboro Shopping Center, Soho Espresso features authentic affogato — a gelato and espresso concoction — as well as espresso drinks, delicious breads, cakes and cookies from a collection of family recipes all baked in the store from scratch. Soho Espresso opened on Nov. 2, 2011.

Soho Espresso is also open during special, late night events such as the monthly Art Walk and trunk shows.
