Almost Home Cafe

As the name implies, Almost Home Cafe features downhome cooking -- "Good ol' trucker food." But don't be fooled by the menu and think only truckers enjoy the homecooked meals for which Almost Home Cafe has become known. A visit to the Highway 24 favorite, near Grantville, proves that locals and truckers alike appreciate the friendly atmosphere and delicious food prepared by the owners who opened the location in 2007.



Asian Cafe

2131 S.W. Gage Blvd, Topeka

Asian Cafe features Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Thai cuisine. Located in the former Sunny Street Cafe building near S.W. 21st and Gage, Asian Cafe's specialties include, Teriyaki Chicken, Spicy Pork, Orange Beef, Bulgogi (stir fried beer), Galbi (Korean beef ribs) and House Pan Fired Noodles.

Special lunch combinations featuring an entree with fried or steamed rice, an egg roll or crab rangoon and egg drop, hot & sour or wonton soup are available for $5.79 - $6.29 Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Delivery is available with a minimum order of $15.

Asian Cafe was opened when Jade Garden at S.W. 21st and Gage closed in October 2012.



Avila's Mexican Restaurant

10025 N.W. US-24 Highway, Silver Lake

This small, family-owned and operated Mexican restaurant offers up crowd-pleasing sopaipillas and chili con queso. Located just a few blocks from Silver Lake High School, it can pack a crowd on game nights. (Updated 3.31.10)



Banjo's Cafe

5824 S.W. Topeka Blvd., Topeka

Banjo's, a staple of South Topeka-Pauline dining since the mid-1980s, offers a casual breakfast and lunch menu that features homemade meals, including the popular biscuits and sausage gravy. The diner serves breakfast all day. Under the same ownership since 2001, Banjo's continues to feature many of the original wait staff, keeping a high rapport with the people of Pauline.



Baskin-Robbins

4400 S.W. 21st St., Topeka

Baskin-Robbins has operated its S.W. 21st Street store since the 1970s, offering delicious ice creams, shakes and specialty cakes. The corporate slogan is "31 Flavors" because the company wanted to be able to offer customers a different flavor each day of the month. This store actually offers about 48 flavors. Just tell them what you want and they'll scoop it up.



Billard Airport Restaurant

3600 N.E. Sardou, Topeka

For a good time in a casual atmosphere, try Billard Airport Restaurant, which has been serving good ol' hot American food for more than half a century. Leased from Phillip Billard Airport, the restaurant welcomes all Topekans and visitors for breakfast and lunch daily, and dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. (Updated 4.2.10)



Billy Vanilly

Billy Vanilly (formerly called Daddy Cakes) is the only place you will find gourmet cupcakes in the Topeka area. Enjoy a "Daddy Cake," which is a cupcake the size of a Texas muffin, or a "Baby Cake," which is a regular size cupcake. If you're concerned about the health impacts of a giant-sized cupcake, try a "Skinny Cake," a cupcake featuring 200 calories or less, fewer than five grams of fat and healthier ingredients than your normal cupcake. Blue Moose Bar & Grill

Blue Moose, in the former Brick Oven building near S.W. 29th and Wanamaker, is an upscale bar and grill known for amazing food. From Mediterranean Shrimp Past and Free Range Rosemary Roasted Chicken to Baby Back Ribs and Jammin' Salmon, Blue Moose has an eclectic and sophisticated menu.

There are two Blue Moose restaurants in Kansas City. The original Blue Moose Bar & Grill is located in Prairie Village and the other Blue Moose Bar & Grill is in Overland Park.



Boss Hawg's Barbeque

2833 S.W. 29th St., Topeka

As its slogan says, Boss Hawg's has been "Horrifying Vegetarians Since 1995" with its delicious barbecue. The casual dining restaurant, located in the Brookwood Shopping Center and attached to Pigskin's Sports Bar, has won numerous state and regional awards, and has placed high in national and international rankings. Bradley's Corner Cafe

Bradley's, which opened in North Topeka in February 2006, features popular, made-from-scratch rolls, buns, fries and 25 different kinds of pies. Its turkey and dressing meals, meatloaf, and biscuits and gravy are popular with diners.
