Hazel Hill Chocolate Traditions

Hazel Hill offers a mouth-watering display of melt-in-your mouth, delectable sweets. The goodies don’t come cheap, but they are a perfect example of the phrase “you get what you pay for.” Hazel Hill offers fancy treats, like champagne truffles, but it also makes old favorites like the caramel apple seem brand new.

Rest in a cushy chair, breathe in the chocolate aroma and watch the scene. Enjoy a cup of coffee and take advantage of free wireless Internet.

Everything is made in the old downtown storefront. Call for information about taking a tour, and watch Hazel Hill make its own fudge, truffles, turtles and other sweets. The shop opened March 17, 2006, and now ships its goodies throughout the country.

Hazel Hill also has a second location in Manhattan.



Heartland Café

In business for 30 years, the Heartland Café features homestyle cooking in a cozy atmosphere at Forbes Field south of Topeka.

Henry’s Grill

Operated by Black Dog BarBQue since 2008, Henry’s Grill located upstairs at Topeka Harley Davidson, 21st & Topeka Blvd., is a very popular place to enjoy some of the best smoked BBQ lunches in the northeast Kansas area. Turkey, Pulled Pork, and Brisket sandwiches are available Tuesday thru Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. and running til 2 p.m. Side dishes include baked beans with bacon and beer, cole slaw, and Topeka favorite “Cheez ‘n Tators". Lunch is served with a different daily special; “Smoked Meatloaf” on Tuesday, “Burnt Ends” on Tuesday and Wednesday, “Smoked Sausage Chunks” on Thursday and on Friday and Saturday “Baby Back Rib".

Breakfast is served fresh, not frozen or processed, Saturday mornings from 8-10:30 a.m. and includes made from scratch biscuits and gravy, fresh bacon & cheez egg omelet combo, sausage biscuits, handmade waffles, toast and jelly, and their customer favorite “Black Dog Sausage, Egg and Cheez” breakfast sandwich.



Herman's Beef and Sausage House

Herman's Meat Shop is not only a great place to buy the meat you need for the week but also a well-loved lunch spot for the North Topeka crowd. Lunch specials change daily but keep a consistent price that is easy on your wallet. Hours listed are for lunch only. The meat shop opens early and stays open later for your shopping needs. The store hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.



Hunam Chinese Restaurant

Ice & Olives

Ice & Olives brings the spirit of Dean & DeLuca to Topeka with their gourmet grocery store at S.E. 29th and Croco Rd. Besides an extensive selection of upscale grocery items, Ice & Olives also sells meat and cheese trays as well as freshly made deli sandwiches featuring secret herbs and sauces in a California-style cuisine.

The store offers pasta, sauces, dips, cheeses and olives, many imported from Europe.

Stop at the snack bar after rounding the first nine holes and munch on a burger, hot dog, brat or sandwich. The snack bar serves up beer, mixed drinks and Gatorade. The patio at the clubhouse provides a good spot to kick back and look at the wooded area. The nearby banquet room holds about 80 people and is a popular spot for golf tournaments and the occasional wedding; call for information about reservations. Larry's Short Stop will fuel your belly while you fill your gas tank. In 1985, this gas station started selling chicken and has expanded its menu over the years. Days start off with a variety of breakfast options, from the popular biscuits and gravy to eggs. Later, there are cheeseburgers and french fries as well as meatloaf dinners, chicken and noodles, and beef and noodles. The shop has seating for 25 people, but most people take their orders to go.
