Cheeburger Cheeburger

2919 S.W. Wanamaker Road, Topeka

This '50s style diner most definitely is not brought to you by the letter "S." Cheeburger Cheeburger, which opened June 23, 2009, features "Cheeburgers" (what others might call a cheeseburger) topped with as many as 26 different toppings.
The Wanamaker location is the first Kansas franchise for the Fort Myers, Fla., chain. Cheeburger Cheeburger features beef fresh from a plant in Dodge City, topped with one of nine cheeses and then any combination of 26 toppings for no extra charge. Cheeburger also offers sandwiches, salads, milkshakes and malts.
“It’s not fast food,” owner Tom Overton told The Topeka Capital-Journal. “Everything is made to order.”
Hungry adults who can make a "pounder" disappear will get their picture taken and posted on a bulletin board inside the restaurant. Kids younger than 12 can take on the challenge with a half-pounder.
