Golden Dragon Chinese Restaurant

Golden Dragon has become a mealtime destination for many Topekans who are hungry for good Chinese food in the downtown area. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. Battered shrimp, and chicken with onions are two popular choices from the buffet. Check out the buffet, available from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, for dining in or to go.



Golden Eagle Casino

1121 Goldfinch Road, Horton

Golden Eagle Casino, located six miles west of Horton on K-20 highway, offers a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner options for hungry gamblers.

Breakfast is served from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. daily, with a buffet on Sunday. There's a lunch buffet from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, a dinner buffet from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and a lunch/dinner buffet from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Dinner, which ranges from $10.95 to $14.95, follows a different theme each night - Ribeye steak on Monday, seafood on Tuesday, tacos and potato bar for $5.00 on Wednesday, steak and shrimp on Thursday, catfish on Friday, prime rib and barbecue on Saturday, and homestyle favorites on Sunday.

Goose Again

Formerly Sidelines, Goose Again is a new sports bar located in Fleming Place. Goose Again opened in mid-October 2010 and is more than your typical bar and grill with a wait staff that goes above and beyond the effort you'd expect. The kitchen opens at 11 a.m. and stays open until 10 or 11 p.m. — allowing you to fill your belly late into the evening. Look for fantastic drink specials most nights served by a friendly staff and mixed by a talented bartender.



Grover's Smokehouse

1217 S.W. Gage Blvd., Topeka

Since 1986, people driving through the intersection of S.W. Huntoon and Gage Boulevard have been met with the distinct aroma of smoked meat coming from Grover’s Smokehouse.

Although the owners had decided to close down the restaurant and re-open as a new place in 2013, the community reached out and begged them to stay, so they decided to keep the barbecue joint.



Hanover Pancake House

Hanover Pancake House has been serving Topekans since 1969. Its slogan is: "Food so great, you'll scrape your plate!" Hanover serves both breakfast and lunch favorites in a friendly, comfortable atmosphere, and is popular among the downtown Topeka lunch crowd.

Hatfield's Bar & Grill at West Ridge Lanes

Not far from the clatter of falling bowling pins, Hatfields offers nourishment to bowlers and sports fans. The kitchen cranks out a basic menu – chicken tenders, pizza, burgers, hotdogs and lots of appetizers, including mozzarella sticks, nachos and popcorn chicken. Wash it down with a soda or something else from the full bar. Hatfields offers its own seating and stays busiest with bowlers – who often drop in to wind down with drinks. Others come to Hatfields just to watch sports on the big-screen TV.



Hawaiian Shave Ice

1023 SW Gage Blvd., Topeka

Located next to the entrance to Straight Water near the center of Fleming Place Shopping Center, Hawaiian Shaved Ice is a perfect treat. Made with tropical fruit flavors, Hawaiian Ice, also known as Shave ice (not Shaved ice), is much different than a sno-cone, in that it is made by a machine that shaves ice rather than grinding it like a sno-cone machine.
