Scott Nickel, who has operated the Brickyard Barn Inn on N.W. 25th with his wife, Truanna, for the past 11 years, has extended his cooking reach to the Jayhawk Tower office complex at 7th and Jackson.
The Jayhawk Corner Cafe, located in the lobby of the former Jayhawk Hotel, offers an all-inclusive lunch buffet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and eventually will have breakfast, too. Todd Howell's exciting new sports bar & restaurant opened in the west end of Fairlawn Plaza in April 2011. Howell, a partner in Bullfrog's Live for nine years, has created a spectacular new place that holds more than 300 people and has 38 50-inch flat screen TVS as well as a 10-foot HD projector TV. On the weekends Lazy Toad will have live music.
The restaurant features home style food with favorites such as fried chicken and meatloaf as well as New York-style pizza as well as upscale bar food.

The Moose Lodge is a North Topeka landmark offering full-service dining for members and guests on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings. The Moose, which supports veterans activities and the JROTC program at Topeka High, also holds separate pancake and taco feeds once a month that are open to the public (check the roadside sign for dates).
