RowHouse Restaurant and Catering

515 S.W. Van Buren, Topeka

RowHouse offers white-linen fine dining with a stellar menu to match its elegant and cozy atmosphere. The menu changes regularly, featuring foods from Morroco, Italy, Thailand and Argentina. The location itself is a draw -- an 1876 rowhouse that has received preservation kudos for its renovation. For reservations, call (785) 235-1700.

The RowHouse also offers private parties Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings and can do private lunches Monday through Friday. Call for more information.

Downstairs, the RowHouse has opened a sophisticated bar, which you enter through red velvet curtains. Below the Row has space for 12, making it a cozy spot for drinks for two or guests waiting for tables at the upscale restaurant above. Like the rest of the RowHouse, the bar retains the old home's charm with an old fireplace, but it mixes in a contemporary, cool vibe. It's a great spot for a glass of fine wine.

Sakura Restaurant

Sakura offers a hibachi grill and a sushi bar for fine Japanese dining. Watch as the chefs prepare your food in front of you or enjoy a more private dinner in the sushi lounge. The sushi lounge also includes a room for Japanese-style dining including cushions instead of chairs and a table at chest level, providing a glimpse into Japanese custom only available at Sakura.

Shawnee Country Club

The Shawnee Country Club formed in 1915, and the Donald Ross-designed golf course now features mature trees and flowers on its rolling hills. It can be a beautiful spot for an outdoor wedding or indoor reception and also opens its doors to special events, corporate meetings and holiday parties. Skinny's Sports Bar and Grill -- where every day is game day. When Chiefs and KU fans gather to pull for their teams they don’t have to look hard for one of 30 TVs. The Break Room

Opened in 2006, this is a quirky place in a cool refurbished downtown storefront where you can buy a bottle of beer, hot dog, espresso drink, ice cream and grilled panini -- among other things. The Vinewood

Open for private parties by appointment only, the Vinewood has been a Topeka venue since 1890. With a large, spacious wood dance floor, the Vinewood offers a plethora of entertainment options, including dancing, dining, seminars, special events, receptions and parties.
